Eric Louw Matric Leavers Dance

Eric Louw High School held their annual Matric Leavers Dance, on this glorious summer’s evening. A little windy, but thankfully not as hot as of late.

Here are a number of photos taken of the excited youngsters arriving for the event.

Some of the couples sauntered casually along the red carpet on the raised dais, pausing to receive the cheers and applause of their friends and family, watching. Others crossed at a slow trot, one or two at a canter, and one couple were so keen to join their friends on the far side, they positively galloped across so fast, I didn’t get a chance to drop the shutter. Sorry.

Beitbridge News

This news has great economic impact for Musina, too.

There has been an increase of over 40% in imports of pre-owned vehicles at Beitbridge border post in the last eight months, according to official statistics released by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra).

Zimra acting head of communications, Taungana Ndoro, said that the state-owned entity was collecting around US$8.5 million per month from vehicle imports. He said second-hand vehicle imports were mainly from Japan, UK, Singapore and South Africa – and all vehicles came through South Africa for export to Zimbabwe.

According to Ndoro, Zimra agents are processing an average of 205 imports of second-hand vehicles at Beitbridge daily. These included those cleared under the returning residents rebate facility (Immigrant Rebate).

An Historical Quote

Can you think of a single politician who does his work solely for the good of the country? I can’t. They’re all in it for what they, personally can get out.

If ever the time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin. -Samuel Adams, revolutionary (27 Sep 1722-1803)
